I'm putting three of my books on sale for just $.99 on Amazon starting Saturday, June 27!
(The sale will be in the UK store too.)
THE FRIENDS OF BAIN READER, VOL. 1 collects all the short stories I serialized for my newsletter friends last year, including THE MAN WHO NEVER STOPPED RUNNING - the first 15,000 words of a future Will Castleton novel. It'll only be on sale until the end of the month.
BAND OF GYPSIES is a short novel I cowrote with C. Dennis Moore. It's one of my favorites of my own work. This book is gory, spiritual and crazy all at the same time - with some major cameos from none other than Jimi Hendrix! (I especially recommend the audiobook - Quintin W. Allen does an absolutely fantastic job narrating!) This sale runs until July 3.
RIDERS WHERE THERE ARE NO ROADS is the first full-length novel in my RIDERS OF THE WEIRD WEST series. The sale runs until July 3. The sequel, THE ROAD GOES ON FOREVER, is coming out later this year - but you can start reading the serialized version right now at my Insiders Club! (A prequel short story, THE COWBOYS OF CTHULHU, is free at amazon from June 28 through July 2!)
Back when I first taught at Glen Oaks Community College in the early 1990s, the new librarian asked me to suggest something "interesting or unusual" in the speculative literary realms I was studying. I gave her two titles - Stained Glass Rain by Bruce Boston (fiction) and the hour of hallucinations by t. winter-damon (poetry).
I started teaching at GOCC again, part-time, this past fall, Tonight the same librarian gave my students a tour of both the virtual and physical library. (No such thing as a virtual library - at least not at GOCC - back in 1995.) At the end she bade the class look for a physical book or two using using the online catalog and implementing the skills she'd just imparted to find them on the shelves.
On a whim, I searched for the two books I'd suggested more than twenty years ago. They were still there, waiting patiently. No one had ever checked them out.
Tonight I'm taking them home. They're due in two weeks.
I'm already planning to check back in with them in 2035...
Curt Campbell does an absolutely killer job bringing six of my stories to life in the audio version of GREEN RIVER GHOST STORIES!
I hooked up with Curt after he narrated some of my buddy C. Dennis Moore's stories - he's now hard at work recording Dennis' novel THE FLIP.
I love Curt's interpretation of each of my twisted tales listed below, but he totally floored me with "A Letter to the Ghost Hunter" - I swear the "demon" in the story sounds like Samuel L. Jackson at his most badass! Had me literally ROTFL!!!! You'll really want to check it out!
Here's the playlist. Feel free to hit me up on Twitter at @davidbainaa and let me know what you think!
"A Pleasure to Burn" - A movie star comes home to literally burn down the past.
"Faith: A 9-11 Ghost Story" - A priest discovers he can perform a singular miracle for souls who died at the Trade Center.
"The Trunk: A Killer Ghost Story" - There's supposedly a dog's ghost in the trunk of the car. A ghost can't bite, can it?
"Dark Blue Shadows: A Children's Ghost Story: A Campfire Tale" - Don't speak of...no, don't even THINK of the dark blue shadows....
"That Enveloping Darkness" - What if you couldn't remember anything that ever happened inside the house you're supposed to housesit?
"A Letter to the Ghost Hunter "- A novice ghostbuster will need more than a little help with this particular haunting....
